from: Il Gambero Rosso
It is
undeniably true that the clonal selection of the Nebbiolo grape begun many years
ago by Domenico Triacca is now producing complete, high-quality results. The
selections obtained have had a high cost in terms of both time and money, but
Triacca's work has far-reaching implications for the quality of the viticulture
of the entire Valtellina. It is a pleasure to say that already tangible evidence
of improvement is not lacking; a number of Triacca wines we tasted this year
scored easily over 80 points. |

Sassella
della Valtellina d.o.c.
It is ruby-red, fruity, harmonious and intense. A perfect balance between the
taste of fruit and vanilla of wood. Good accompaniment for all types of red
meat, and ideal with sharp, pungent cheese. The noble creation Sassella is a
real find for its price.

Sforzato
d.o.c.
Suppleness, softness
and finesse are given to this wine by a technique similar to the one used for
Amarone: the Nebbiolo grapes are dried on wicker mats to enhance the sugar
content. Aged one and half years in barriques followed by one more in wooden
casks. The over-all structure is a delight. |

Prestigio Valtellina d.o.c.
Must Buy!!! Morrell & Co. Wine Merchants say:
"This Nebbiolo-based rich, spicy and intense wine delivers both a rustic edge and an elegant personality.... On the palate the flavors run the gamut of asiatic spices, wild mushrooms, chocolate-covered cherries and even a hint of cinnamon. Persistent, intriguing, long-lasting flavors coat your palate for several minutes at the end. Great wine."
