Monte Rossa is one of the stars of the Franciacorta wine scene again this year. Indeed, one should say the Italian wine scene, given the spectacular performance of the bubblies from Paolo Rabotti and Paola Rovetta's estate (which is in the capable hands of their son, Emanuele). The general excellence of their production becomes immediately evident as soon as you open any bottle of their wine, still or sparkling. |

This is the kind of wine that is catching on among producers in the Franciacorta region, made to be soft and enchanting, and
hence pleasing right away. However, this Saten has something more
going for it: an incredibly elegant bouquet of very ripe white-fleshed fruit,
featuring quince, apricot, damson and Golden Delicious apple blended with
delicate hints of vanilla and fresh herbs, leading to a soft and
alluring entry on the palate; this soon develops with lots of body, structure,
rich fruit and a velvety caressing mousse which, as it fades, leaves a note of
ripe fruit and honey: three very well-deserved Glasses.

Franciacorta Cabochon
The Cabochon came quite close: it is
elegant, mouth-filling, round and harmonious. Two
Glasses.
