Merlot * Red Table Wine * 12.2% volume alcohol * Sugar Code: 0 * 750 ml. * 100% Vitis Vinifera Merlot grape variety * VQA Niagara Peninsula This wine, barrel aged for up to four months, exhibits a rich and fragrant nose of black cherries spiced with hints of cinnamon and cloves. Additional flavors of tobacco on the nose are more prominent in the full-bodied palate, with the added fruit characteristics of raspberries and black currants. The tannins are powerful while in the mouth yet soften quickly on the finish, allowing the fruit flavors to linger. This wine is an excellent match for meals with red sauces, lightly textured meats, and soft cheeses. |
| Also please try our Cabernet Franc * Red Table Wine * 12.%1 volume alcohol * Sugar Code: 0 * 750 ml. * 100% Vitis Vinifera Cabernet Franc grape variety * VQA Niagara Peninsula The dark garnet colour is a prelude to a rich, full-bodied wine. A complex nose of ripe peppers, stewed cherries, dark chocolate, mild tobacco and mint characteristics lead to a palate of cocoa bean, rhubarb, tobacco, spice and leather. Soft tannins round out the wine with a long, structured finish. A fantastic match for red meats, pork and lamb, not to mention 'sinfully' delicious with chocolate desserts. | |

| More about Icewine:
Icewine had its beginnings in Europe nearly two centuries ago. This exquisite and rare product can only be produced in a few wine regions of the world with freezing winter temperatures, like Canada. For most wines, grapes are harvested in September and October. For Pillitteri Icewine, however, the harvest does not take place until December or January, when the temperature has dropped to -10 degrees Celsius (14 Fahrenheit) or colder. When pressed, these hand-picked frozen grapes yield a juice with an intense concentration of sugars, acids, flavours and aromas. Pillitteri Icewine tastes pleasantly refreshing and is absolutely free of any additives. It is best to serve icewine as dessert after your main meal, chilled between 3 and 7 degress Celsius (37 and 45 F). Icewine is a unique tasting experience with unforgettable flavours of luscious tropical fruit. Pillitteri Estates Winery takes great pride in producing this treasured Icewine, officially accredited with the VQA medallion, signifying its superior quality. Icewine is indeed very rare, and subject to very limited availability. | |
