Piedmonte, Italy
Torraccia winery, located in Ghemme, has been producing small quantities of wine for over a century. Today, the winery owns some of the best vineyards in Gattinara and Ghemme, resulting in highly acclaimed single vineyard wines. Dr. Alessandro Francoli represents the third generation of family ownership. Dr. Francoli is also the President of the Instituto Terre del Nebbiolo del Nord Piemonte, a non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement and promotion of wineries of the North Piedmont, Italy. From the single vineyard of Vigneto Jerbion, this 100% Nebbiolo D.O.C.G. wine has a richly perfumed nose of raspberries, dark chocolate and eucalyptus, with flavors mirrored on the palate. It is a full-bodied wine with a chewy feel in the mouth and a long, dry finish.
This D.O.C.G. blend of 80% Nebbiolo, 10% Vespolina and 10% Bonardia gives a complex and elegant wine, with leather, herbs and vanilla notes in the nose, and ripe blackberry, sour cherry and raspberry flavors. A long, balanced finish completes this wonderfully structured wine.
