Amaro Laguna Nord - Rime Craft Distillers

Amaro Laguna Nord is inspired by the glorious liqueur-making tradition of Venice, a crossroads between East and West, where the Rialto market once offered the finest spices, herbs, and roots from around the world.

It faithfully follows the rules of ancient Venetian liqueur-making, as codified in the Capitolare degli Speziali of 1258, which required an oath to use only high-quality, well-preserved botanicals and to respect a rigorous preparation method that even took astrological influences into account.

A blend of infusions, extracts, and distillates from 42 botanicals creates the perfect balance: the aromatic richness of Eastern spices, the balsamic notes of Alpine herbs, the fragrance of Mediterranean fruits and plants, and, most distinctively, the bitter touch of a plant native to the Venetian lagoon—Sea Wormwood (Artemisia maritima), also known as Santonico.

The recipe calls for 45 days of botanical infusions, followed by blending and a 180-day aging period before bottling.

It releases aromas of Sea Wormwood, Bitter Orange, and Star Anise. On the palate, the bitterness of Wormwood returns, layered with citrus and sweet spices. The finish is long, with a persistent herbal freshness from Gentian Root and Artichoke.

Best enjoyed neat, over ice, or in a classic Venetian-style spritz.
